In Memory Of Kelvin L. Johnson

April 28,1963 ~August 2,2006

It was on a Wednesday Aug.2,2006

When two of the three girls in my care

were eating lunch in the kitchen

 

All of the sudden they come running outside

excited and screaming toward me

They said they'd seen a black angel in the reflection

of my turned off kitchen T.V.

 

At first I thought it was all just a game

Then the third girl went inside and come

running out screaming the same

 

They all pleaded for me to come and see

The black angel with wings sitting  in my

 frontroom with his legs crossed on my loveseat

 

I finally decided to humor them and go in,

but when I looked I didn't see anything

They all replied he's gone now,yet in upcoming

hours they were skiddish to go in the kitchen

 

Later that night the phone rang

It was my sis n law on the other end

Requesting to speak with my husband

 

She said I have some bad news to reveal

Our former fellow worker Kelvin Johnson

Was shot and found dead in the street

 

It's odd that it took me 3 days to comprehend

That the reflection must have been Kelvin

His way of letting all know he'd made it to heaven

 

Such a nice guy so full of joy

Cutting up with others seemed

 to be his life goal

 

It was his girlfriend full of anger

 that took his life

Then she turned the gun on herself

and commited suicide

 

His attempt to warn the police  

seemed to all be in vain

For it was through his cell phone

which made it harder to trace

 

It was comforting to know that he

accepted Jesus at an early age

For to be absent from the body

Is to be present with the Lord that day

 

You'll be sadly missed by family and friends

Until the day that you are reunited again

 May our heavenly Father keep you in his care

And know that your message will be heard down here
